Who We Are

Kate Wilson, PhD is the owner of Shifting Balance LLC, an independent consulting company specializing in project management, technical consulting, and organizational advisory for clients from local nonprofits to enterprise SaaS. After consulting Fortune 500 companies in business strategy with Accenture, scaling a global technical GTM organization at Highspot (SaaS) through 13x growth, and co-founding an AI startup, she is now focused on doing meaningful work: helping local organizations modernize and deliver, guiding startups through technical growing pains, and stepping in where enterprise teams need experienced execution. Kate brings a combination of strategic thinking, operational discipline, and cross-functional leadership that keeps diverse teams aligned toward shared goals, even when their priorities don’t naturally overlap.

A Basalt native and longtime Roaring Fork Valley resident, Kate is deeply invested in the health of these communities and landscapes. That local perspective paired with hard-won experience managing large, complex initiatives with many stakeholders makes for a grounded, practical approach to consulting that’s as comfortable chatting it up on the trails as in a roadmap review with software executives. She is especially motivated by work that serves the valley and the people in it.
